Project impact

This page describes anticipated project impact

IMPACT OF THE PROJECT

Mutual exchange of knowledge and sharing of common project results, which are open to the wider international community, can have a significant and multiple impact. First of all, pandemic prevention measures require urgent solutions that will be maintained even after the end of the pandemic crisis, because the benefits of new services and infrastructural possibilities in terms of price and quality of exploitation will remain present in the scope of educational services. Secondly, the availability of quality education is a civilizational achievement, and this project offers permanent improvement of mechanisms and standards of creation and publishing of open educational resources in a repository whose quality is not in doubt. We want to achieve a global contribution to improving the availability of new forms of digital education and mass production of quality educational content that can support insight into the laboratory side of teaching. Through this project, the academic partners in the project will reach open educational resources that can support lower levels of education. A good example is, for example, teaching chemistry and physics, where quality video presentations of designed experimental realizations can be of great use as illustrative or educational elements in teaching and lower levels of education (which usually do not have the opportunity for laboratory demonstration). Then, modern textbooks can include markers that will link the content of the textbook and the video content of the repository. There is a big qualitative difference between a textbook that uses a word and a picture to describe a phenomenon and a textbook that activates a short film (with or without elements of augmented reality) that can be sent via a mobile phone. Thus, technology already enables new methodologies that accelerate the processes of learning and understanding the basic principles that have so far been explained by means that were supposed to properly stimulate the imagination and cognitive abilities of the student himself. Now, the transfer of ideas, concepts, descriptions of phenomena can take a more direct and efficient form.

The implementation of the project will affect the project participants themselves, their higher education institutions, teaching staff and students, and the wider community - all potential users of the repository of open educational resources.

The project is aimed at forming guidelines, examples, criteria and standards of global quality in the field that should encourage further production, publication and use of open educational resources. The level of use of project results is a measure of its impact. Conditions of physical distancing and other preventive measures that should prevent the spread of the pandemic require the dominant application of electronic forms of teaching in which laboratory work is even more neglected to the detriment of the relevant outcome of knowledge. The solutions proposed by this project can help in this regard. During the project - two new WEB Laboratories for programming and application of specialized hardware will be activated, but with the primary intention that the instructions on building these WEB Laboratories help interested teaching staff not only the institutions participating in the project - can easily form WEB Laboratory for teaching purposes.

Published videos that present and emulate real laboratory work will be available for use by everyone. Elementary characters are possible applications, so that they can be inserted into a variety of teaching processes in both form and content. In addition, the primary emphasis here is on instructions that should facilitate and encourage the continued creation of further digital educational contents. The applicability of the initial sample content will be wide enough for them to be used in the broadest sense and to promote the project, but also to motivate a similar activity, according to published instructions, standards and mechanisms.

The measurable number of citations of the use of the repository and the number of units that make it up as a direct or indirect result of this project are one measurable indicator of the impact of the realization of the project itself.

Another measurable indicator would be the extent to which higher education institutions adopt and improve the guidelines, standards, and mechanisms for building a repository – i.e. whether they accept the recommendations of this project in their mechanisms and standards of quality assurance and improvement, and whether their technical teaching support services are given the task of dealing with these issues of support to the teaching process (production and publication of digital educational contents).

The third measurable indicator can be works in this area that will have a review of the results of this project.
